Tom Fiser
IPNIG Public Relations/Communications/Networking Officer

Tom Fiser, R.N., has worked as a nurse in the public and private sector. After graduating from Mohawk College’s Registered Nurse Program in 1998, Tom had his first taste of independent practice as an Occupational Health Nurse. Tom has also worked in a cosmetic surgery clinic as well as hospital and community health care settings.

For the past 5 years, Tom has owned and operated At Your Feet, a specialized Hamilton foot care practice. Tom discovered a great need for community foot care treatment centers, and his practice grew to over 1000 patients. In 2008 Tom received Platinum and Gold Reader’s Choice Awards for “Best Foot Care Professional” from two local newspapers.

Tom sought specialized education that would give him the best treatment for foot care from Pedicare Nursing Services, a private institute in Ontario. A lifelong learner, Tom regularly takes advanced knowledge education courses in Canada and the U.S.A.

For the past twenty years Tom has volunteered at a summer scout camp in the United States.

Tom’s involvement with RNAO since 2004 has centered on activities to promote recognition of the work done by independent practice nurses. Tom says, “Over the past three years, we created a structure within RNAO guidelines for an Independent Practice Nurses interest group. As your Public Relations officer, I would be pleased to continue the momentum of the past three years. It is my intention to make the public aware of the wide variety of health care services performed by independent practice nurses at the highest quality clinical practice standards.”
